Hey All, I am the new owner of a 2007 Audi S8 V10 , any advice would be welcoming
So I pulled the trigger and I bought a new S8, I am well aware of the carboning issue , I bought a Carly for the vehicle so I could do some coding but other than the seatbelt chime ( getting rid of it ) until they write the programs for the other stuff I can't do much coding , and I'm not too happy about that considering I wanted to code multiple things . But basically I'm looking to see what you guys would recommend for me for using oil and spark plugs on a vehicle that has 97k , and what other things I should look forward to , and things to watch out for . All advice would be appreciated . Thanks ahead of time . Tom
also other than major mechanical repairs I will be doing all the maintenance to my own vehicle

Welcome--to D3 ownership. Use oil that meets factory spec of 502/505. Should say right on the bottle; sometimes they say "European Formula" or words like that to clue you in. Mobil1 Ow-40 is a common one, but there are lots. On plugs, honestly you may find a discount online dealer for them is about as cheap as you will find via the usual web sites. From prior searches, sometimes they will be cheaper than the indies. Counterintuitive, but the way some of the common tune up and brake parts are priced now to be more competitive for maintenance parts. Figure out the one you like--maybe one closer to you for ease of shipping ? I use audiusaparts (Sunset Audi/Portland OR), but there are several others around different parts of country. In any case, I would use OES, which are likely NGK. Sometimes Beru; rarely Bosch it seems.
Simply read down a few pages or stay on board a few weeks and you will hear the common issues. Mentioned in sticky at top of page, which is worth a read. Thus, upper control arms, air ride, trunk maladies, AMI and bluetooth questions, Nav screen, sometimes ABS, sourcing TPMS sensors, etc. S8's, W12's, TDI's (typically our occasional Euro members) and some things on later FSI 4.2's (which overlap S8) are subclasses on some drivetrain items, but 90%+ of it--and the post topics--are in common.
And yep, get a real tool for scanning. Will save you money first or second go. With a D3 at 10 years, you will need to scan it and use it for a lot more than light coding. Not, if when, and when will be in months, not years. I call the rest of them cr-app's as soon as the first real test reveals delta. And for starters, you have two ECU's and the OBDII other group of wannabe scan tools likely won't even reach into the second box--beyond a code telling you to check it.
