Default Hood Release Broken?

Was just trying to show a friend the engine compartment of my 2009 S8 and the hood release “pull” snapped. I showed the engine bay and closed the hood and the lever is attached but totally inoperative. Attached to...well...nothing. What is the solution? I am on a road trip so no chance to take it to my mechanic until I return next Wednesday.

Thanks!

Based on a cursory look at that thread - thank you by the way - it would appear that no two words ring truer. I hesitate to read it thoroughly but by the looks of it, it’s not an easy fix. Wish someone, anyone, can tell me otherwise.

It's not that hard. Look at my post on the last page.

...either you can get to the hood release cable splitter box way up behind the headlight through the left front wheel fender well, or you'll have to cut the hood latches and replace them.

Yet another tale of woe to reinforce spending 5 mins next time you have the hood open lubricating the hood latches and cables.

Scott, Paul, Dave...thank you very much!

I have sent this and the other thread to my mechanic and hopefully he [they] can rectify my situation without much ado.

Best regards,
RJ52

Hopefully they're nice enough to try those.
Cheers,
Louis

I’ll let you and the rest of the forum in on a little secret, I am also lucky enough to own a 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe which was purchased at Scarborough Jaguar/Land Rover (located in, where else but, Scarborough, Maine). Whether it’s sales, service or parts (or all of the above) they are in my opinion the best dealership I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I know...not something one hears often, or at all, but the people who work at Scarborough are simply the best. They until very recently had an Audi certified mechanic on their staff who initially worked on my car but I trust them completely to continue doing what they do best; servicing their customers.

I will let you all know.

Thank you again Scott for the information and those link(s). Today I ordered the hood release cable and next week my [Jaguar] dealer will have his mechanic (the same guy who works, beautifully, on my F-Type) try to correct the situation...and then let everyone know what transpires.

Thank you all for those who replied.

Best regards,
Jay
