How much is my '05 SWB worth?
Have another 12 months on my lease and want to research what the market value of the car is compared to the lease buyout price.
2005 SWB Akoya Silver w Black interior. 34,000 miles. Keyless entry and start, heated rear seats, power trunk, Sirius, rear power sun shade.
Is is possible the car is worth around $48,000?
Thanks!

I guessed at some parameters and used Edmunds appraiser...

You might want to try it yourself with the all the right data.<ul><li><a href="http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/used/index.html">Edmunds used car appraiser...</a></li></ul>

Re: I always take 10% off the trade in value
This method is somewhat accurate based on my conversations with dealers. You can always go into Ebay motors and search on A8 (completed items) to see what the demand is out there and at what price range. This is also a good proxy for the lower limit you can expect. As an example a '06 SWB with the new nose sold for 50K on ebay. Your '05 with the old nose might only fetch 40K - 42K.
If you want to buy the car off lease start out low say $39K as your leaseholder may prefer to avoid transactions costs associated with reselling the vehicle. Ask to speak to a manager when you make your offer if your first offer is rejected by a customer service rep.
If you're willing to do a bit of marketing and list locally you can probably sell at something in between KBB/Edmunds in and ebay completed items (if you have realistic expectations.)

Tried selling our 04 A8L...
Silver/Amaretto, Cold Weather, 19" wheels, etc.. 23k miles
Didn't have any bites or interest at $42k in populated San Francisco area, going to keep it as second car for awhile
