How often does Elect Park brake cycle on it's own
Got out of the car recently and heard the brakes go whirrr. In the back of my head, I seem to remember they do this on their own periodically to measure the rear pads. Does anyone know the interval (miles, trips, or hours) for the brakes to energize?
At one point, I thought the parking brakes would engage when I put it in park but that doesn't happen. Maybe it senses the grade and if I lived in San Francisco they'd apply on a steep hill. (Thankfully, I don't live in SF and never want to). I'm happy living in the flat, midwest part of the country,

Audi's statement below from one of the D3 SSP's. It never runs until shutdown, so my other practice experience is it is very likely to do the self calibrate when I park after a non-stop 200+ mile drive to Tahoe. High odds of that makes sense given the total interval it is using.
Doesn't auto engage in Park, but there is a VCDS setting to do the opposite--take it off the you shift into D. Separately, there is a hill holder function as Subaru calls it--for when you stop on an uphill ("San Francisco") grade to avoid the roll back. Given AT, not a big worry.
