how to remove rear bumper on A8 W12
Hi,
I have one faulty parking sensor, I am assuming i have to remove the rear bumper to replace. Anyone got an idiot guide to remove said bumper.
Thinking of buying the sensor for £40 and fitting myslef rather than paying audi main dealer £300
Any advice appreciated, A8 W12 2005

Unlikely you’ll need to remove the bumper. It depends what sensor is faulty. But in any case I would try to reach to it underneath the car. Look at my post =>

Technically you can remove 3 bolts holding the bumper cover where the spare tire is. That’s it. You can bend it a little bit (it is very flexible) and you can reach the sensors like that. The sensors are on clips. You just need to press the clip and push the sensor from outside. It is better done when someone is pushing to the sensor and you just releasing the clip. That’s it.
But if you’ll still decide to go ahead with bumper cover – it will take 1 hour or so. Feel free to reach me directly via email victor.lochankov@ca.ey.com
I will not be checking it this weekend, but once I’ll be online – I can answer any of your Qs. I hope my prior post will be sufficient for you to understand the process!
Good luck!

I think you can reach them from underneath. Don't take cover off unless you have to. I had it off for a concealed Euro trailer hitch install. It is do able, but the way it attaches to the rear side fenders is a bit tricky, and its somewhat a two man job to pull off just because it is big, clumsy and flexes a lot, and you don't want to mess the finish up.

I had a parking sensor fail on my 05 when my father backed into a snowbank. When it warmed up 4 days later, the sensor was working perfectly. Has worked ever since and that was last year. When looking into it, I found you should be able to replace it without removing the bumper itself.
