I can't figure out what this one button do......
it's the one right in front of sunroof switch (it's a wide button between rear view mirror and sunroof switch).

That's the Background Lighting on/off manual control switch....
...It let's you manually turn off or on the pre-set background interior lighting.

Yep - use it all the time. I set the lighting the way I like it but ...
on the setting I use the auto dimming feature of the door mirrors and rear view mirror does not work. When traffic is behind me and the lights are bright, one push of the button switches off the interior lighting and activates the auto dimming feature - voila!
