Default Instrument Cluster LED? Information Center Dead 2006 A8

Actually 2005 A8. Has anyone experienced this? Car runs fine, all the gauges work, but the information center in the middle is just a white screen with some vertical colored lines. I will post pic later as I am not with the car. I am thinking I am going to have to replace cluster, so another question is what years fit? 04 to 09? Then what is involved in programming, can it be done with VCDS? Thanks in advance for your input!

Make sure it's an actual OEM unit and make sure it's the right one for your car, the narrow display was for 2004-2005 only, if I recall, or 2003-2004 ROW. Otherwise, that little part looks promising. I don't know it is locked by component protection or not, I do know the gauge cluster itself is.

What's with the suspension light? If you don't have it in jack mode, that's its own cause for concern.

Hi Jack. Thanks for your input. The car is actually an 05, I can't edit the title of the post. The code for the suspension is the left front sensor. Suspension seems to be working fine. I was hoping to avoid getting the cluster recoded. I don't even think they'll do it on a used one

Consider sending the cluster to Module Master (Moscow, Idaho) or Tanin Auto Electric in Racine, Wisconsin to have them test and replace a defective display. it comes with a warranty if they replace it. They may say it is good and you have a data bus issue.
