Intro: purchased my d306 A8L 5 days ago
Hey everyone, new to the forum. It’s been probably over 5-7 years since I posted anywhere regularly. I come from a bmw background and still have my 2014 535i m-sport. However I baby that car so I daily my lifted diesel every day. It’s gotten kind of old being a long bed crew cab and lifted so high. I wanted a daily driver with all the comforts.
I aqcuired the A8L because my uncle had one back when they were new, and it was just an amazing example of a useful car. AWD, spacious, loaded with options, and well engineered.
After taking it theough the norcal twisties this weekend, I must say this car is in great shape. The air suspension works great as well as all of the electronics. It’s got the issue I’ve read about with the trunk, the service light is annoying, and it’s got another warning about some bad bulbs, likely DRL or something because the adaptive headlamps work fine.
I ordered up my VCDS cable so it should arrive soon. I hope to lower the car this way and get rid of the seat belt chime. Could also use to clear the service light.
I just plan to put it on some nice aggressive 20” wheels and tires, tint it, and enjoy it.

It's a great looking car! Sounds like you have a plan and everything. My only recommendation is to check on the timing service for the car if you don't have record of it done. The full job is supposed to be done every 75k miles but you can push it to 100k miles, after that, it's a gamble that can leave you with a blown motor with no warning whatsoever. Doomsday warning out of the way, enjoy! Many users here have many happy miles in their D3's!
