It's still performing gracefully at 128k miles
 

Last Friday, the freeway was light, I pushed it a little passing cars and getting on the freeways... Amazing acceleration, smooth and so comfortable. Can't beat the $3000 A8L (that's what it worths to the market now). LOL

I have the same 06 A8L. Got it in Nov, 2017. Paid $8,000 for it with just about the same miles as your. It's now at 150K. The PO has owned 5 or 6 A8s and moved up to a 2012 from the 2006. Before selling this (or any of the other previous car), he did a full timing belt service and anything else needed. He did the rear wheel bearings, rotors and brakes all around., fog light grille on one side and trunk latch. Even the tires were decent but I'll replace the going into next winter. He gave me a set of the front wheel bearings he had bought just in case but did't need, plus a new set of valve cover gaskets he had laying around.

It has the solar roof to circulate air when parked in hot sun, plus seats that cool off your "man" parts when it's hot.

The only issue I had was the air ride compressor just gave up. I would have replaced it myself but figuring out it was the compressor, then replacing it set me back $550.

The only nuisence issue I have is the parking sensors which worked at first and quit. When it got cold, they worked all winter. Now it is flaky again. Oh yeah and the stupid left front parking light bulb which my hands are too big to get to.

For some reasons, here in great weather CA, I never worry about the timing belt so much. I'm sure it will break one of these days, but if it doesn't, before I donate or give the car away, I'll do the the job just for fun.

I hope that you guys didn’t just jinx yourselves. :D. My old 4.2 became a money pit at 130k miles. :(

4 years and 4 months later, I've spent around $2400. The interior still looks fantastic, people are shocked when I tell them it's 11 years old!

$600 per year seems pretty reasonable. What year is your A8

We're rolling on 204k miles and it's still a great car. Quiet with zero rattles and still looks like a newer car. Add in the $0 balance and it's a winner. I did the timing belt service around 190k miles. Paid $1800, but again no car payment helps offset these costs.

2008. It's been a great car.

It's not as simple as just replacing the belt when it snaps, being an interference engine design you've just totaled it.
