Kessy clone and swap
Hi
Just wondering if anybody out there has had any success cloning or recoding a kessy.
This has turned into a bit of an epic.
I have the 4E0909131C with the advanced key.
All aerials short to plus and keyless not working all the time and getting worse.
Bought a 131 model and a 131A model used but they were not the advanced key models.
the 131 I successfully cloned the eeprom works ok except for the advanced key.
the 131A cloned as well starts the car but the central locking does not work.
I have a 131K model tried to adapt to the car with vcds (I have the pin numbers) but the 050 ([Adaptation - 10]
Enter 050 in "Channel Number".)with VCDS does not want to let me in.
Also tried to clone but will not work at all.
I am thinking dodgy eeprom chips on the A and K models.
only started doing this after the Audi dealer tried to adapt it (K model) to the car and failed. Probably wasn't his fault.
So now waiting for a C model and K model from somewhere in the former ussr. and hoping to have better luck.
The cost of a new one here is ridicules.
Any thoughts ? or anyone been down this road?.

Interesting project
It's not something I have tried myself but I would be interested to see the insides of the messy and what equipment and process you did to clone the eeprom.
If you need another kessy a8 parts here in the uk may have one and there is a Facebook page for a8 breakers too.

Have bought a few parts off them before (carl I think from memory).
Have been good but cheaper parts when you shop around.
Bought a cheap carprog. It can read and write the eeprom chips on the board. I was quite surprised it worked.

Success at last
Finally succeeded with cloning kessy
Received a 4e0909131c and another kx model today.
My original is a c model
Cloned them both.
Kx would not work as per the previous one I tried.
Put the c model in and all good starts and advanced key working.
So if you have the old short to positive in all your entry aerials this is probably the cheaper and safer way to go than replacing chips on the board or at least as a backup.
I would suggest getting the exact same model kessy.
I thought the kx would be OK as it was off a 2004 model.
The x is just factory refurbished. There are a lot of them (kx) out there.
Must have been a lot replaced or something.
So about $150 for used kessy, $100 for cheap carprog and all good.

There are a lot out there. Probably all the same. The eeprom clip is a bit flimsy but quality ones are available and can swap the clip if needed later.
Not much else it can do one the A8 maybe clear air bag error codes.
Will have a look at some other eeprom chips on the cd player and mmi head unit one day as I have a couple of spares. Maybe able to clone them.

sorry to dredge up old post but...
need some help. have a 2007 S8 that got some water under the driver seat. wouldn't start, got the car in the shop and hours later of taking things apart and checking things, made our to the kessy unit and sure enough, water damage. need some guidance on getting the right used replacement and how to reprogram it. we have vagcom but never gotten into this type of recoding.
any help would be greatly appreciated. have included a pic of our kessy unit. thanks in advance.

if you want to clone it read back in this thread , get same ver. or later kessy.
or if you have friendly audi dealer who will code a used unit ( not likely)
I cloned mine, its not that hard. hundred or so for the chip reader plus price of used kessy
The chip can be swapped from old to new (used ) kessy but unless you are good at electronics it is not easy,
