knuckle removal a8 d3
The pinch bolt nightmare continues- i will need to remove the whole knuckle and have a shop remove the stupid pinch bolt. any directions from anyone who has done this?

Whenever I have had a stuck bolt, heat and an 3/8" impact has always taken care of it. What happens is the aluminum corrodes, the aluminum oxide takes up more room than aluminum by virtue oxygen atoms are added, so the bolt is in a bind. Heating the casting will relieve the stress so the bolt will come out.
The more I learn about fasteners, the more i use the basic info from those chemistry classes I took so many moons ago. If you want to play it safe, use a MAPP gas torch to heat the casting.
