Latest W12 warranty work and W12 ingition coil service campaign
Took the W12 in for a few service/warranty follow ups.
1. The new news to me was the W12 now also has a recall/service campaign that has been issued for the coils. Thus they were all replaced. Count em, 12! Interestingly, I have not received any service campaign letter for it yet or even heard of it on the W12 motor, though I have heard of and just recently got the letter for my 2000 A6 4.2 (essentially the same motor as the D2 of similar vintage). For what ever reason, they had the W12 coil parts in stock, while they said they have yet to get the parts for the six and eight cylinder ones. My service guy (who manages the team) says he expects in due course the service campaigns will roll across most all the motors. I'm guessing the W12 coils must be shared w/ some other motor (W8's aside perhaps in a VW) since they had them.
2. Air bag light came on. Diagnosed as excessive resistance at connectors in the knee airbag (not sure which side), leading to replacement of the connector and some wire segments per the various parts bits listed.
3. Got them to replace the innards of the cup holder and audio control assembly (unique to the 4 seater set up); recently failed which caused the wood trim covers/doors to spring open with some noise, rather than gently open as originally designed. Difficult repair too since apparently the whole center console has to come out all the way to the dash to get to the attachment points underneath. I was pleased they cared to make it right while still under the 4/50 warranty--three more months, but then CPO for the next few years still.

edit. I somehow posted this to the wrong thread. I meant to respond to a post on the D5 section concerning the W12. I'll try and delete this. My apologies.

did he give you any idea when said service campaign would be applicable to the W12?

Sorry saw the post before mine and thought is was a current conversation. I didn't check your post date.
That makes sense why my service tech didn't have anything on record.
Thanks for replying thou.
