Intake cleaners
I'm sure this has been asked before but my 5.2 just stuck the lower intake manifold flap. I got it to start working again using vcds and working it. Has anybody had any luck using intake cleaners? If so what brand did you use? I'm getting ready to change my oil so now would be the time to use it if anybody's had any luck thanks in advance.

No magic potions out there, just good old elbow grease. Just did it on my v10 and wife’s 4.2l and I don’t see how anything could remove it with out scraping or walnut blasting. The removal of intake is not that bad. The worst part are the plugs in front of it. When you do that make sure your variable intake flaps are intact. Good luck and have fun.

I'm Using The BG Inject-A-Flush Apparatus 9210

seldom and too late to make any difference. BTW, broken IMF flaps are endemic in D3 AUDIs carbon build up is a factor but not the only one. An expensive IMF replacement is almost a certainty.

Since my conventional, mechanical carbon cleaning, I've used the Wurth intake cleaner to try to keep the build-up at bay.
I was surprised that, less than 2000 miles after the carbon clean, I could feel a difference after using half a can of the Wurth cleaner. That tells me how quickly carbon begins to build up in these engines.

Wel
However, this is only after having the IMF cleaned mechanically. The BG stuff is really only effective if used frequently and before carbon has built up to the point of misfires and flap issues. I intend to use it every 15K. Inspection with a cheap borescope shows build up is mitigated. Unfortunately, AUDI has never included routine decarbon maintenance in its schedule for FSI engines, so, even diligent owners haven't done it and high mileage FSI AUDIs can be assumed to have serious carbon build up. Some dealers did recommend the BG service and performed it or subbed it out. You can see this in some AUDI Carfax histories. It was usually done too
