I ended up buying these,
http://www.tunerdomes.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=80
was $29 shipped for the two, after using the promo code "tuner2010"
These have 4 LED's and were bought by quite a few people over in the Q7 forum as well.

Only problem is my factory housing is on there so tight on the right side there is no way I can get it off. So I ended up taking my one LED out. I heard one guy used a dremel to fix it but I don't see how as the screw is stripped and completely stuck up inside the plastic under the edge. I even tried a few liquid sprays to get it unstuck. Anyone have any ideas? I thought of using a dremel and breaking the housing but that would still leave the piece of plastic where the screw is stuck in place.

lol same here I have one LED and the other is a normal halogen. Both screws are crappy and the whole design of this housing is crap. Terrible idea having the screw screw directly into plastic. On my Durango the screw screws directly into a metal housing, much better.
And thanks for that fix, ill check it out at home Depot. I take it you use a drill for that to work? It's a tough angle to get in there.

The only real problem I see with LED license plate bulbs would be that they amplify the appearance of any dirt around the license plate. Not the case with halogen!
