Adaptive. What does it mean in this context?

Star-type lighting elements? Any pictures of this?

My Lamborghini has "adaptive" xenons, and I don't think it does a damn thing. What are the A8 L 6.0 ones supposed to do? The only useful feature about the Gallardo's special headlamps is that you can type in a code to reverse which one is high for when you drive in right-hand-drive countries... how often does an American do that?

Any idea what the "adaptive" A8 headlights do?

Adaptive = addtional left/right illumination with steering input. D3 uses the same system as the Cayenne (halogen cornering lamp in-between the xenon projector and halogen (led on W12) lamps.

Are these the same lights that turn with the car?

A8 is the 1st generation system, as pictured by AtlasD3Miami. The lights turn on when cornering at low speeds (up to about 30mph?). The A6 has the 2nd generation system where the Xenon lamp unit swivels.

As for the LEDs, if DRL is turned on in MMI, they come on with the ignition, regardless of the setting of the light switch. When the lights are activated, either by auto or manual control, the LEDs dim down but stay on.

BTW Cameron, are you keeping the Lambo? I've got to say a black Gallardo and a black W12 would just about be my "dream driveway" at the moment (until the Pike Peak/Q7 comes out, then I'd like one of those as well!).

They only come on W12's (Until MY2006) and are optional in RoW D3's

Haven't decided what to do, if anything, to rationalize the garage.

May get rid of the B6, as it's not as useful as the allroad and the A8 will give me a sedan.

Where are you in the UK? A friend of mine in the UK is also getting a W12 A8 L... (I lived there for a time...)

... has an SL500 and a Range Rover. Like me, he hasn't owned a sedan in awhile and the A8 W12 is the obvious choice.
