Longest In-service on your A8?
Dropped off 2004 A8L on July 20th with a headlight 'non auto leveling error' (headlights will stay down and won't come up to level = I can't drive at night) under factory 4/50K warranty.
A week later they replaced the controller for the headlights and suspension. Another week later the sensors at each wheel for the auto/leveling suspension, but the fault still shows up. Next step is to remove dash/interior and physically trace cable. Delay for a few weeks due to no resources and scheduled vacations of techs and too much work load.
Service tech has been calling me every week or so with updates. Finally Friday September 1st (Friday before Labor Day) I get a call it's fixed: found the problem with a pinched wire under dash. It will take a day or two to re-assemble everything, thinking September 5/6th timeframe. I get a call back on Sept 8th the problem reappeared. Asked when the latest I can have it back and he will make a commitment with his service manager for that date. I said 1st week of October. (As I travel a lot by plane and lately driving and enjoying driving my Phaeton).
So maybe after 10 weeks I'll get it back in one piece.

30 Months!!
My car has never not been in the shop. Once a month for the last 30 months.
I really don't mind though as my service advisor is top notch. They gotta be losing money on this car though. I feel like I gotta deal on it. I've racked up probably the same amount of miles on their loaners as I have my A8L.
