hi all,

not even sure the description is correct.

i would like to refit the moudling along the bottom of three of the doors on my 2003 a8 4.2. there are gaps appearing along the top edge of the moulding where it meets the bottom of the door.
i am hoping to be able to refit rather than replace these parts if at all possible.

i have looked online and can't find a diagram or similar for how to remove and refit the mouldings.

if anyone can point me in the right direction i would be very grateful.

There was a defect in 2004 A8, there is a metal bar in plastic door molding and it wasn't sealed right and gets rusty! The rust then swells and makes molding bow out. Not covered by Audi rust warranty. Have to replace them.

+1 but it isn't specific to the 04, my 05 has it as well. If you push/kick the lower molding bits of rust fall out.

I have this on two of mine--a 2006 built in 5/05. I took one off to look at it and cannot see any visual damage relative to the metal bar that is apparently inside. I discussed it with the service manager at my normal dealer near the end of the CPO coverage, who said it should be covered (in the U.S. that is--I think the O.P. is not in the U.S. if it is a "2003") under the (12 year?) body corrosion warranty. But the corrosion has to be visibly evident first--beyond just warped plastic that is. As I said, so far mine isn't.
