Default Misfire/P0303/ oil on spark plugs issues.

hi all,

2007 Audi A8 4.2 FSI

im getting a misfire on cyl#3, i’ve changed the coil and am still getting the same issue.
i did notice lots of oil on the tip of the coil and on the spark plug, im sure i need new gaskets and
am looking into it, but can the oil be the issue with the misfire? Or can it be an injector issue?
Symptoms are ge car runs rough with a slight sputter and shake when engine is cold and a little less when warm.
when I accelerate a little hard the engine light starts to flash.

Will appreciate he input.

I have never had a problem with misfires that was attributed to oil filling the shark plug cavity. I have had spark plug cavities completely full of oil and the car ran fine. Run a compression test. If all is OK, then I would check the wiring from the ECU to the coil. Make sure that cylinder # 2 and #4 are firing OK. Raw fuel being dumped into the exhasut manifold will disrupt the flow of exhaust gases enough to cause a misfire to adjacent cylinders.

FSI motor....rough running/misfire....Black/oily plug....seriously coked up inlet valves is my guess.

Take it for a walnut shell blasting and it’ll be good as new.

You could try the BG chemical treatment. BG works with Audi VAG to come up with some innovative solutions. It will require that you have an air compressor, and some other tools.

I've done this treatment after carbon build-up, sprayed 2 cans through the intake, added their gas additive as well per their instructions. I then took off the intake manifold, and I can safely say that the BG is a huge waste of money if you already have carbon built on the valves.

Once cleaned, I'm sure it does its job if done with every ounce change.

Couple things to look at- valve cover gaskets(they might leak by, each spark has an o - ring. Alsolook at what fuel you use. I had same issue- switched fuel brand and ran injector cleaner and problem went away.
De carbonizing will also help a lot.
