I saw your latest scan below, but before trying to dissect that on your key issue, I want to ask a more basic question. If addressed elsewhere in the thread, apologies.

What were the circumstances that led up to the problem and the basic recent car history? For example, did it fail suddenly but worked before? Or perhaps you bought it like this so don't know the history? Or especially, was any work done to anything electronic on the car? By any chance was any attempt made to update the MMI software?

As before, it seems like you are down to the MMI control module diagnosis, but there remains the question whether the optical loop is somehow disrupted. Hence my question about any recent work to the car that preceded this stuff. For example, if someone tried to update MMI and used the 4140 disks from other than the preceding MMI version, then bingo the MMI module is fried and it is irrecoverable per prior posts. Or, if someone pulled out a module w/ optical connections, there's another obvious suspect to look into further.

I'll respond in line w/ your scan below on a few other things.

On some asides on your scan:

Looks like you may have a bad torque/motor mount. Seems not uncommon.

The steering angle error that comes up a few times may clear after a while, or you may just be able to clear it and have it go away. You may also have ESP, ABS, adaptive lghting or other fault lights on the dash. My sensor was replaced once under warranty, but I have also had the error several times when I have pulled the battery temporarily. It goes away for me with some driving and a code clear.

thank you for the response. Well the MMI had been working fine, then started to play up, rebooting once without any evident cause, then a week later started rebooting more frequently, now will no longer stay on.

About 4 months back a local mechanic did an update of the MMI software, but it ran fine for many months after that. I would have thought that failure due to the software would be immediate.

I am a software developer by profession so debugging stuff is not foreign to me. This is all symptomic off a loose optical connection somewhere ( as it seems to work then not work).. SO I had hoped the optical scan would give me some clarity ,,but it hasnt, only seems to suggest a fried MMI for some reason though there was no immediate event that saw immediate MMI failure ?

It looks like your Gateway Module J533 is faulty since you have different optical BUS errors from scan to scan.

Agreed you can eliminate the MMI update problem scenario.

I defer then to Mishar's response/suggestion and then the prior MMI control module diagnosis from the dealer.

J533 is a kind of optical BUS hub and it is checking the rest of modules utilizing also wire connections to them. If you have error at one or two modules, but always same from scan to scan, it can be broken ring or module. Scan it again and check if it will be the same as previous.
