MMI cursor going crazy

MMI cursor going crazy
the MMI in our 04 A8L is going crazy. The cursor goes up and down by itself. The volume goes loud to low to loud...
No buttons are stuck. I have the latest software too. THe volume **** and central **** are non-functional. Can only control via steering wheel.
Just a bad MMI unit?
This all started after I picked up car from dealer after service to auto close trunk (8th time) and parking brake light malfunction.
I do have extended warranty but have to pay 50$.
Any ideas? Thank you.
