Need help with Dension 500S MMI upgrade
2007 Audi S8 here with 4610 2g
my issue is that when i upgraded from 2740, the IDC module would not upgrade. i looked it up and it's because the Dension module was not in the upgrade or service mode or whatever the hell you call it. i did upgrade the firmware on the 500S to the latest firmware and tried the MMI upgrade again but it still failed
i looked everywhere ( I have the 500S model, not the 500) so it does NOT have that extra module where you just flip the switch to get it into service mode to complete the MMI upgrade
Does anybody know anything or a place where i could start?!?!?! i looked for almost a solid hour and found nothing on how to upgrade that thing with the MMI discs.
The rest of the MMI upgrade went smoothly and it's showing 4610 as my software level but some features are missing because that IDC module says "N" in the setup menu.
can anybody shed some light on this? please and thank you!

Unplug the power from the Dension module and run the update again. The MMI update does not at all recognize third party modules do it will not work properly whilst its visible to the system.

What have to done with the factory Bluetooth module? Presumably you’ve disconnected/bypassed it as the Dension unit will now be handling the phone BT. The two won’t play nice together.
Best bet is to disconnect the dension unit completely and return the system to its original factory configuration, then run the update. Once you’ve done that, then start messing about with getting the dension unit setup. The update will not work if you have anything outside of a properly coded factory/OEM module in the system.
Until you can get the base system to update, you should not do anything with the dension unit.
And make sure you’re following the firmware update tsb instructions to the letter.
