Default New A8L Owner - A few issues, ABS Sensor help needed first

Ok so today I went to look at an A8L with a less than market price. Came from the B5 and C5 platforms, not scared to fix a few things.

Test drive was great.. Ran VCDS saw a couple items. Memory seat issue, Nav issue and a known key issue. Drove about 50 miles today and while on the way home the ABS light /parking light came on. Ran a separate scan for that and found the following:

ABS issue, Full scan from earlier today below. Swapped the Rear Left and Front Right sensors to see if the issue was a sensor as these appear to be the same. No luck on that, turns out that the sensors seem to be good and there is a wire issue. Any recommendations on where to start, V that I should see at the sensor? Need this one solved so I can get emission test done will fail with lights on. Going to start the research on the rest of the items later this week. How can I test to see if I need a new harness (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ch/4e0927904b/)

The quiescent failures are from the battery going dead for whatever reason. Unless you know why that happened, start with a load test of the battery. These cars can chew through them and a bad battery makes all kinds of things get weird. Check the plug of the affected wheel sensor, it may just need a cleaning, corrosion wouldn't be a big surprise.

For the ABS issue: I have checked the sensor, cleaned it. Check the connections no corrosion. Going to see if I have the correct ABS wiring diagram and try to check continuity tonight for wires from sensor to module to see if there is a break in the wiring. Maybe there is an it is in the wheel well and repairable.

Below are the after reset codes showing up still, not sure why the ABS did not come back on. But it was coming on up till this scan last night. Will verify battery voltage this evening also.

For the Component Protection it seems like i need ODIS or the dealer to remove that. Hopefully they can do so. Would be nice to see the Nav Screen.

KM/Miles of scan below. 220640km-137099miles

Memory seat fault: 70868km - 44,035 miles

Navigation Fault: 220529km 137,030 miles Day/time of scan.

Battery Fault: 220533km - 137,032 Battery was replaced at 134,386 by Audi.

The voltage on the battery can be fine and the battery toast. Feel free to check it, but the best way is a load test.

I checked continuity between the wheel speed sensor and pins 30 and 16 from the ABS module, no breaks. So I assumed the issue was not with wiring and was with the module. Went to move wires, and swap the module when I found that 5-6 wires inside the loom have had the insulation disintegrate! multiple were touching. I did a temp fix for these to prevent them from touching, and codes were gone... Test drove this morning and they are back. Maybe my temp fix did not work. Time to bust out the heat shrink and soldering iron and try that. If it does not work then I will swap the ABS module after that.

This weekend I picked up a 2004 ABS module. 4E0 910 517 A HW: 4E0 614 517 E, Current is: 4E0 910 517 B HW: 4E0 614 517 BC Anyone know if this will work?

Was just going to say, check the loom by the abs module as insulation disintegration in that area is a known and relatively common fault with older/higher mile cars. Too much exposure to exhaust manifold heat. Looks like you found out for yourself....

This is the before wiring repair. I actually had to keep going down the loom as there was more wire issues. Got all the wires separate but ran out of heat shrink. Checked to see if I could clear the codes and No dice. Swapped in the other ABS module late last night, will finish with the heat shrink and report back. Anyone have a recommendation for heat protection? I was thinking putting some of this up to protect the module/wiring when done. https://smile.amazon.com/Thermo-Tec-...rds=Thermo-tec

Hi I have a 04 Audi A8l and have received that message before and I was able to clear it both times by simply putting the emergency brake on, then driving forward a bit and then disengaging the parking brake and then all the abs and park brake lights go away on the dash.
