Default New Battery Help Please !!

Hi,

I have had a flat battery and a new one installed and the battery meter still shows 10%

I'm aware i need to use the VAG COM to recode the battery controller but i don't know what values to enter and need a little guidance. I have a MF88H http://www.supercharge.com.au/product_detail.php?seq=49 and the controller only gives me options for makes such as Moll, Varta etc

I need to match the battery i have with the equivalent battery from the list of options so that it no longer displays 10% and recognises the capacity of the battery and charges it accordingly

many thanks
chris

Find one that has the same amp hour rating, and you will be fine.

If you just changed the battery the car will take a few cycles of driving the car before the battery meter will change. I recently changed mine and it started at 10% put after a few days it was 80-90% with no recoding.

Default coding

worst case just use the number from the old battery and change one digit on the it.
I rather get the original battery, we see a number of weird issues lately on these cars with aftermarket batteries.

Hi,

I've got the details from old battery and they are as follows:

000915105AK
12V 520A 110Ah din 650a en/sea
6100570853982
varta de

I've tried to enter the details into the battery regulator through the vag com but it's not accepting the coding.

Can anyone help as to what should go where... serial number, part number, type etc.

do i need to open the section of the controller where it asks for the secrity code before i can code the battery in.

many thanks
chris

also, to give you some more information. When i try and enter the part number, serial etc of the battery and it rejects it, the battery meter goes to 100% and then counts back down to 10%.

When I replaced my OEM Varta (same as yours) with a new Deka (made in Lyon Station, Pa by East Penn Manufacturing Company); I never recoded anything and my meter functioned normally the next day during trip 2.

It could be that your new battery actually has ~10% of charge. Drive it for some time to charge.

Default +1, or the modest variant...

On my W12, the few times I have nearly drained the battery (or at least where it reads 10%), even after I drive it a bit, it really takes a while for the meter to recover. Sometimes I don't see it back to +/- 100% for another driving cycle on the meter, even though I know the car is charging, starter is strong, etc.

The battery meter is not 100% an accurate reading of the battery. You would need to use VAG-COM or a VAS tester to set the new battery up in the BEM module. If you want the reading to go up, you need to place a charger on the positive cable and the negative on the post bolted to the BEM module just forward of the battery on the right side trunk area. Also make sure the small red wire is attached to the battery positive cable. This is used to check the charging level going into the battery. On the new A8s or if the MMI system is updated to the latest software level, the battery meter is removed from the MMI system display.
