Hi,

I bought a brand new Audi S8 bumper (from a 2009 model) to fit to my 2009 model Audi A8L.

The conversion is pretty straight forward but on the side fenders the front bumper won't line up 100%. (see attached picture)

I have also seen this problem on other A8 who fitted and S8 bumper.

Is there anyone who know what the problem might be? Is there any modification (cutting) that need to be done on the new bumper to make it fit 100%?

I have a 2005 A8L W12 with a 2007 S8 nose and mine lines up perfectly.I used all new parts which should not matter. Did you change the fog lights and covers as well? From the picture it looks like an A8 fog light instead of a S8 fog light and cover.

Hi TSHong!

I reused my fog lights from my A8 but bought new S8 covers. And they fit perfectly so don't think the fog lights have anything to do with this.

Feels like there is something "holding" the bumper from line up against the front fenders.

Did you do the job yourself?

No it was a Audi Aluminum Certified body shop that did it. Now I can't say they did not order a different year fenders because both were replaced. But from the headaches of ordering different bumper cover, grill, fog lights, and covers, I think all other parts were for a 05 A8 W12.

Before I'd did this, there were several post on the net that have done this, but they did not run into your issues. Also I used 07 round fog lights and covers but I don't think that should matter. From your picture, it looks like something is preventing it from the lower part from going all the way back.

It appears the mounting bracket needs to be modified as the length of the bumper appears to be the same as the fender. Can the brackets be bent back a bit or otherwise modified.
