Ok...who's D3 A8 is this...?

This might make a nice car, if the issue has been solved thoroughly by AoA.

I bet that there are a number of low VIN cars that were turned back

by frustrated owners that were "repaired" by Audi and ready to go!!

For a buy-back and 11,000 miles. Much to Much is being asked.

Nice car, but resale on a buy-back aka 'Lemon' is poor even at the best of times. Unless you are planning on keeping the car, this thing is not going to hold any resale value.
