One problem solved, two new ones in its place
So, I finally got around to getting my tires re-balanced and the alignment done on the car, things it has needed for a bit, and the dealer told me I had a bent rim and was missing a rear hub ring. Perfect, so I ordered up a refurbished A7 rim that matches my set and some new hub rings. Tonight, barely a day later, the car won't start again not too long after coming home from a longish drive. I get a G28 sensor intermittent/implausible signal and the car fires up without issue after sitting for 2 hours. So I order up a new Bosch crankshaft position sensor for $51 on Amazon and now need to figure out how to replace it. I'm not sure how to remove the heat shield, last time I tried that, the clearances were too tight, anyone have any kind of guide on here? I looked and didn't really see one, and it would be nice to know how to do this before I start taking stuff apart, and Alldata gave me nothing of use.

I think I may have a spare one of those lights you can have. If it doesnt cost me too much I'll send you it. I think it is the inside attachment bit that was busted but I can't remember or the LED may have gone.

That would be very helpful, I appreciate it! I know these can be costly to buy a fully functioning used one. Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from the insurance company as to whether or not they will cover it.

That actually is very helpful, thank you! I'm sure I would have figured it out, but now I know about how much time I need and it'll save looking around the underbody with a a flashlight trying to guess.

Got that sensor swapped, it was more difficult than I anticipated. I have long arms but reaching the CV axle shield bolts and the bolt for the sensor was not just a stretch, but meant I had to use a couple wobble sockets to make the angles work. For those who may need to do this, be careful not to strip them, I nearly did.
