Default Paris Auto Show last Saturday

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/62964/dscn0023.jpg"></center><p>
Well, It was exciting to be there, but I left sorely disappointed. It was Saturday morning and the crowds were just unreal. I'll post a few pics but they don't tell the story of just how thick the crowds were. Most of the pics I took were with my camera over my head, using the monitor as best I could to frame the cars. Though you can't really appreciate it in the pic of the Bugatti, I never got closer than ~20 yards to the car, or even the wall that separates the car from the crowd.
The A8L6.0 was there, and I did my best to get some info from the spokesmodel/attendant, but since my French was only 4 days old, well... Her English was better, but she didn't have much in the way of facts about NA availability. I managed to snag a very nice, very high quality A8 brochure, though. For Greenie I took some interior shots because the headrest screens looked familiar in both the A8 and the Phaeton LWB (which I'd never seen before). I got some nice shots of the A3, and some wheel shots on the A8's for Paldi. (There was a Sport Edition of the Touareg, and an outside wheel carrier for the Touareg, pics of which I'll try to post on the VWVortex site.)
Again, regarding the crowds: there were 8 halls, and we spent over 3 hours just getting through parts of 2 of them. The L.A. show does a *much* better job of handling what must be an even larger mob. Still, I'd go again - I'd just make sure it's on a weekday.
Enjoy.

Default Very nice pics!

That's the "sportback" version of the A3 you captured.

I think I saw that 6.0 earlier this year at the Brussels Motorshow. I believe it's in a special colour called "palace blue". Were the Le Mans, Nuvolari and Pikes Peak also there?

Default Nice and thanks A64.2!! I love the rear console in this car.

Its almost like riding up front. BTW, with the headrests at that angle, you`d have to be 7`6" to get a straight shot at the screen!

Default Attendance

Yep, about 1.5 million visitors over a bit more than 2 weeks, versus about 1.2 million over about 10 days, from what I can cobble together. Anyone know the stats on Detroit, NY or Frankfurt?

Thanks. You may be right about the color. I'd hoped to see this new Akoya Silver in person, but I didn't recognize it anywhere. If the other cars you asked about (Nuvolari, Q7, etc.) were there I didn't see them, which is a shame. Maybe it's just that I'd been traveling for about 18 hours, then walking around for another few, but by the time we'd fought our way through the crowds to the VWAG stands I'm not sure I'd have even recognized the cars I was dying to see.

Default The angle set on the headrests were probably set that way...

for the "viewing" masses on the autoshow as they try to peer into the rear windows at that "stand-up" angle.
