Parking Brake Module replacement?
For a while now the Parking Brake warning light has been on. The ebrake seems to work fine, I don't use the thing anyways, but would love to get the warning light out of my dash
No other lights, brake pads have a lot of life in them.
Looking at how cheep used modules are on eBay, it looks like something I could try. But the question is - is it as simple as swapping the module? Or does it have to be programmed or the battery disconnected?
Thanks

True.
When i did a VCDS scan the error I got was A/D control module error.
The seller also provides a return label to send back parts that are bad. Tom's foreign on east coast.

The VCDS cable is too expensive for the limited use it would get from me. Meanwhile I can get a used module for $40 on the bay.
My question was whether it was a simple swap, or does it require programming?

It IS coded; it's three digits and specifies the engine type, transmission type and location.
According to Ross-Tech, it also needs the following, which will require VCDS or equivalent:
Note: When replacing this Control Module it is necessary to perform the Basic Settings Function Test (MVB 010) and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (MVB 020) first. This sets a Readiness Bit for each of the Basic Settings; Coding will not be accepted without having done this first! Make sure to adapt the Brake Pad Thickness after coding the module.

No, Seriously, Mister Bally is right, it pays for itself, and gives one piece of mind knowing the true faults, not what someone else is selling, I mean telling you...

You can also always resell it on eBay or otherwise for probably 80% of what you pay for it.
FWIW, increasingly I have avoided posts where folks want to cheap out with an OBDII piece of junk scanner, or these days the app training wheels one. You get what you pay for...or not--including others' free help which is arguably many x the cost of the tool. And yes, I used to throw used parts at old Audis too--DIY for 40 years now. Used to be yet more painful pre web when you had to drive to the junkyard and go out in the yard. Later on I found my time/labor was a a lot more valuable, let alone the boxes of "seemed like it might be it" old parts I had by car's end of life.
