Part inside oil filter housing broke. Need Help
I was trying to change the filter on 06 A8L 4.2L when plastic **** holding filter broke. Do I have to replace the whole housing or does anyone know where I can find that part?

I doubt you have to replace the whole housing, but the bigger question is if you have to remove the housing to replace what you broke. That's a real pain in the neck, Audi service manuals tell you to remove the engine to do it. If it does come down to you having to remove the oil filter housing, make sure you replace the union pipe with a metal version, available on ebay, and the figure 8 oil seal. They both are not reusable. I can't seem to find the part you describe, it isn't listed in any diagrams I'm finding, nor do I know what it is called.

The 2009 a8 FSI with the filter on top of the engine does not have a part like that in the oil filter housing. It is plastic so a good plastic bonding cement might work, if it is made for hight temperatures. Might be worth a try. but a housing is 75$ on eBay, you can strip the part from there. sorry, just some obvious thoughts.
