took the oil filler cap off last night when the engine was running and getting a fair amount of suction

after it warms up, the car seems to be fine but it's rough idle on a cold start. decent amount of smoke coming out the tailpipe till it gets warm (not sure if that's normal or not), then it's fine

i'm also throwing a P1077 - Intake Manifold Runner Control System Malfunction Low RPM

would a good place to start be replacing the PCV valve and hoses? the one plastic, short hose that comes off the driver side (left) valve cover and goes to the PCV valve has a crack in it. i tried to patch it but i probably did a poor job. i cracked it by taking if off one time. the code started about a week after it cracked.

i just don't want to throw parts at it but if this is a good first solution, i'll take the plunge. also, would you guys recommend a OEM PCV valve as a replacement or are there cheaper alternatives?

Start with the cracked hose, needs to be replaced anyway.

anywhere to get cheap hoses without paying like 90 bucks for the whole set?
