July through August if you want to see the greens in full bloom, pretty much any other time if you want to see wet and green, maybe some snow up in the mountains, depending on the winter this year.
The last two winters have been very mild, so there isn't as much snow cap as normal. Though I'm sure you noticed that in the Sierra Nevada's.

Washington is beautiful but i'm partial to Montana. Glacier National Park is amazing! Also our back roads speed limit is 70MPH so the drives are more fun.
Many Glacier Hotel is really beautiful but you have to get reservations far in advance of your stay.

I have only been through Seattle to Portland once and did a few side trips, which put it on my list of places to go. That picture is absolutely gorgeous, no reason I can't stay out longer and include Montana too, wow, thanks for sharing that one. So much to see here in the USA.

The picture doesn't really do it justice. The real life view is breathtaking. I live about 130 miles away so we don't stay at hotels in or around the park. It's an awesome day trip though. I try and go a few times a year. You do have to keep in mind that the "Going to the Sun Road" is only open for a few months due to snow. They list estimated dates that it is open on their website.

It is so hard to capture with a camera, I know what you mean. Definately going to put this on my list. Because of your posting I took a look at some of the Amtrak rail adventure packages that look like a nice way to get around. Would like to get to not only the Many Glaciers Hotel but a couple of the other Northern Railway hotels like the Glacier Park Lodge, the Izak Walton, the Prince of Wales Hotel and the McDonald Lodge. All built by the railroad in the early 20th century.

Update after 2 years and 4 months of ownership. I purchased the car for 21,000 and it had about 64,000 miles on it. Today 1/13/2018, it has a little over 92,000. I love driving this car. Even at 10 years of age it is smooth and quiet and compares favorably with new versions. I have test driven a few other A8s, 2 A8L and a W12. Repairs The car had a premium warranty until 75,000 miles and of course nothing failed. After that time, I have had the following issues. Both fuel pumps, total cost under 600, just ordered from Hitachi direct. Passenger side Front air shock 2000 for an OEM replacement. Did not want aftermarket rebuild. Passenger side axle 700 for OEM. Had trouble with the headlights, dealer fixed 800 Replaced coolant reservoir 134 Rotors and Pads 800 While the car has not been trouble free, it has however been a joy to drive and own. Between initial cost and repairs it has been quite affordable. I probably will get rid of it soon and get a newer A8 but this one has been and continues to be so nice to drive. Love that B&O stereo when you play a well recorded disc. For those of you battling weather where you live I apologize for the photo, though this one was not taken today, it could have been, it is 80 degrees and sunny today.
