Default Piston Removal

I managed to turn a simple rotor/pad/caliper replacement into a 4 hour job, and ended up having to reinstall all the old parts anyways. Long story short, my caliper froze up and absolutely massacred my new(ish) pads and rotor on one side.

Bought a replacement caliper that came disassembled for some reason. I installed the EPB motor onto the back, compressed the piston in...and realized I forgot to put the boot on first. The boot is sealed at the top of the piston, but not at caliper. How can I remove the piston on this so I can reseal the boot?

I think I could use VCDS to open up the parking brake, or use the adaptation. If the caliper was just plugged into the sensor, but not against any pads, it might extend enough so that it comes about all the way out? I certainly don't want to damage anything further.
