I have been having this problem for a week or so now. I can no longer use my nav. I have tried the 3 button reset, popping out the disc to make sure it's clean. Still nothing.

I am thinking of buying a dvd cleaning kit for the laser off of amazon. What would you experts recommend? Could it just be dust on the laser?

Dust on the laser is worth a try, next step is to replace the DVD drive

Std. D3 issue. Head clouds over and eventually just can't be band aided. Meantime nurse it along. Cleaning disk first. If still acts up a lot, you can take drive unit apart--generic computer type stuff basically--and get inside for a better cleaning.

Cleaning the laser will most likely help. I believe that cleaning discs or similar won't work. You have to take it apart. Not too difficult, but you can also take it to a professional.

Yea same problem with my S8. The problem comes and goes...These days, I don't use the nav in the car anymore. I use google map on my iPhone which is so much better.

I had the same issue in my A6...the only fix was to replace the DVD/NAV drive in the trunk. I found a used one on eBay, replaced it, and then everything worked as new. But, looking back, I would just do what the previous poster does....google maps on the iPhone.

Likewise this happens to mine intermittently...there's a write-up on here somewhere on how to disassemble the DVD unit for cleaning (may have even been MP4.2+6.0 that did the write up?).

Default I battled this for a while and fixed it by......

Removing the fuse in the trunk. I'm sure the lasers do get dirty, I've taken them apart myself. My "reset" has been flawless for over two years now. It's worth a shot and made me wonder if some of the drive swap fixes were really fixed by just being disconnected.

Was battling this over the weekend while on a roadtrip. I actually pulled the fuse and replaced...*seems* to have also done the trick for me as well by "resetting" the DVD player (while an MMI reset or similar did not work).

Quick question - do you know which fuse specifically is for the DVD from the below (there's no diagram/legend in the trunk slot)? I pulled the 30-amp, 15-amp, and 20-amp figuring it had to be one of those (rather than a 5-amp).
