Default price negotiation for 2005 A8 w/3500 miles

Hello,

I am thinking of making an offer on a 2005 A8 that my local dealer has with 3500 miles on it. He says it was the dealer owners demo car or something, and has never been "punched", so the four year warranty starts the day I buy it.

It is a short wheelbase (not L), and it seems to be fully loaded (alcantra, 19" wheels, push button ignition and keyless entry, XM Radio, vented and massaging seats, dual pane glass, wooden 3 spoke steering, etc.)

The only option that I don't remember seeing was the stitched leather door armrest and center console ... I need to check that.

They are asking 74,500. They claim the MSRP on it new was 80,xxx.

What would you think would be a good price for this car ? The new body style is already upon us, so not only is it a year older than the present model, but it is also a body style behind. 3500 is low mileage, but ... I would like to think I could get it for 69,xxx ... wishful thinking ?

Any comments appreciated.

Default You should be able to see the Window sticker.

If the car was around $80k and they are offering $74,500 then this is a very good deal.
There is no money on A8s at this time and especially on A8 vs A8L as fewer are built.

Default Since it's got the Old Ugly Split Nose you should use that in your price

negotiations telling them it's out of date, depreciation will kill you, etc.

Although it sounds like you already let that negotiation tool out of your bag already and probably told the ABS that you hate the '06 Gottee Front End.

Default You can verify the MSRP pricing by going to the Build Your Car section of the AudiUSA website.

Can't comment on the dealer's quote.

If you can get me a VIN # I would be happy to get you invoice and MSRP for it to help you.

Default My A8 is about 7 weeks old with 1,100 miles

I'll bet they would discount mine $12k to $15K.

Default Thats on the high side....

Somewhere between $66k - 68k if they are not certifying it. + $2k if CPO.

well that's the thing - he said the car was "never punched", which means even though it has 3500 miles on it, I will be the first owner.

So I don't think CPO or not applies - the original new four year warranty will begin the day I buy it.

Or is there some reason I should still want it to be CPO ?

Default Thats up to you the buyer...

Yes you'll have 4 years or 53,500 miles under the warranty, but its still a used car.

Default Re: I think you can do better then 69k. It is a used car IMHO.

ok I am going to start with 65, and try to hit 67,500 as a price.

Otherwise I can just wait for a 2006. Maybe.
