Default PROJECT: WHITE SATINE... S8L BUILD.

Wanted to here some feed back on this build. Would people be interested in seeing it, cost of build, things of that nature. Any feed back would be great! Do plan on documenting the build(swap really). Buying wrecked s8 to transplant.

Honestly I think it would be cheaper and quicker to buy a standard S8 and pay for cosmetic surgery to shorten the legs of your rear passengers.

I'm curious. If you had the parts car and a proper A8L to start with, it's basically a bunch of labor to make it work, you wound't likely have to fabricate anything. By the time you sell the used A8 components you no longer need, you might even not have to spend as much as you'd think. This kind of build might have a lot of useful information learned from it for our other members. It would in particular be nice to see the engine and transmission out for both drivelines, as reference for others where specific parts are that are normally hard to see or describe.

I think MP4.2+6.0L (or however he spells his username) has swapped out some of his '06 A8L W12 parts for S8 parts. I believe he did the sway bars, not sure what else off the top of my head. Would have to search him and look at his profile and/or signature. He'd definitely know some things you could do to the A8L to "S"-ify it I'd imagine!

I'd be in full support. Been planning on doing something similar myself but building a spare 4.2L instead with the accompanying built ZF transmission although these transmissions are rated for a lot more torque and power than what we have.

Simple. Take entire engine, motor mounts, and trans, ECM, entire wire harness, entire exhaust, and put it in.
It will bolt up just the same as the 4.2.
S8 has different sway bars and shock tuning. I believe the durometer of the bushings is different too since part numbers are different if i am no tmistaken (MP4.2 woudl knwo for sure).
Also front brakes are different, rear the same.

I really want to do Q7 calipers on my s8..would be quite perfect then

I would love to see this build! I currently have an ‘04 pearl white A8L with 270k Kms that I am currently bringing back to all its glory. Would have loved an S8 but the L was more important to me!
