Default Rear brake pads fault codes. 02438

I have replaced my rear brake pads about 2 months ago and everything went well no codes. Now my wife just told me that there is something going on with rear brakes because she is getting a message on the dash. So i just went and scanned her car, and I am getting those codes. I have tried brake pad change procedure with VCDS, but that didn't do anything still getting the same codes.

02596 - rear brake pads worn.
02438 - left parking brake motor hall sensor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Per you scan, the left rear parking brake motor needs to be replaced.

But, standard troubleshooting techniques are required.Did you properly install the pads earlier? Did you correctly calibrate and enter the pad (and backing plate total) thickness? Are connectors all installed securely? Any corrosion on the connector pins? If you just happen to have an old similar caliper hanging around, perhaps you can disassemble it and swap Hall Effect sensors. We'd have to assume that the replacement is good which may not be the case.

If you don't already know how to disassemble the caliper/motor, Don't bother trying. Buy a complete replacement assembly if you determine this is your problem.

When I did my rear brakes all went well. All the steps where taken. Had no codes for 3 months or so after brake pads replacment. Today I checked and cleaned caliper plug, but everything looked good no corrosion. When I do caliper function test I can hear caliper working, going in and out.

your motor is bad i had the same issue on mine, when i would shut the car off and lock it i would hear the rear motor locking and unlocking for 10 seconds i ended up changing the whole caliper (as its almost the same price)
