Reviving an old thread but my "new" (NOT 4-seater) car's HRs only go down until there is ~an inch of chrome post showing. Not anywhere near flush. Is this normal?
I need a pic (or a measurement) of how long those stupid posts are; I am ready to saw them off with a cutoff wheel rather than take the seat or rear deck out. Seems like the three feet of chrome post which I currently see while they're pulled all the way up is plenty long
TIA,
Tom

That was an improvement, but the best solution to comfort and outer vision is to install A6 head rests. I have them now and they are very comfortable and look better design-wise.

Yep, how it works as I recall. On 4 seaters you can just barely recline them enough to slip out of there--from experience. But on 5 seaters, need to pull the back cushion from what I remember--in reading the 4 seater instructions. Not that big a deal from various older Audis, though now you have the side airbags to watch.

In Vancouver right now. Tomorrow, who knows.
Removing seat is actually quite easy. Bottom part just pull up front end and it is out. Back part has two senselessly big bolts at the bottom (wrench 17 or so) and two hidden under the middle headrest (wrench 10). No need for unplugging airbags. Just slide a bit down and remove headrests.
