Rear Vanity Mirror Latch Clips For Sale.....

Purchase location and instructions
So I found the actual latch on amazon,
As far as the replacement it was fairly simple. Take a flat head screwdriver and on the edge of the mirror near the front and back on the ends (where the lights are) there is a tab. Starting from the front of the car(back of mirror) push in the screwdriver between the headliner and the light/mirror. and push down, same on other side. The trunk side of the mirror should just fold out and down like a hinge.
Be careful for the light wire attached to the mirror. Detach that and your mirror is free from your car!
Fold open the now free mirror/light assembly, and you will see where the two shells connect together. With the mirrored surface facing you, place the screwdriver into the crease and push the screwdriver forward(away from your body), causing the front plastic to pry upward and towards your body. Do this all along the shell until it comes apart.
You should now see the switch, but you're not done yet. The center mirror has tabs that run along it, just push down along all edges to free it from the giant light assembly. Then take your screw driver and pop out the old switch, Slide in the new one, pop it into the light assembly. Then pop the mirror cover back on, then slide it back into the cars roof.
Then you are all set, pretty easy once you get started. A plastic non marring tool would probably work better but i didn't damage my mirror in the process so you shouldn't have much trouble either.

I can't believe I didn't search for this thread long ago! My 05 A8 has had a broken vanity for the past 4 years. I have it loaded up with packing tape to keep it up. About twice a year the packing tape fails and the mirror comes back down. Just ordered this clip from Amazon for $1.69 free shipping. Looks like I won't have this ghetto tape much longer!
