Can't use MMI buttons to navigation Android box
Yes, I can use can bus shield and cpu interface board to talk to the android box, but since the TV tuner is integrated with Optical bus, every button I press, it has function, then it will be duplicate when learning the Android box key. The only way you can use the MMI key to control something is the interface for the device must NOT be integrated with optical bus which defeat the purpose of seamless integration with original MMI. If you don't want to use touchscreen, the new air mouse is beautiful. You can also use the video interface but you have to manually switch the screens.
Actually, this system is the best for the money, versatile and totally integrated perfectly thanks to the great design of the Audi MMI system.
Cheers,
Louis

Hello Paul,
Watch the videos and if you want to do something like that, I have the whole set for my Q7, I can send them to you at cost, will be plug and play, I still remembered you gave me your old trunk motor. I don't think you will use the touch screen because you don't want to disable the screen. You can use an airmouse to navigate through the Android Auto.
My Q7 set:
- TV tuner - working - $80.
- Optical splitter - $18.
- 20-Pin cable harness with video/audio both channels - $3.
- 3m Fakra - Fakra from TV tuner to RVC controller for video. $8.
- Android TV Box with AV cables output. $40.
- CarPlay/Android USB dongle. $45.
- 10 ft Video cable from the trunk to the front. $5.
- 10 ft audio cable from the trunk to the front. $5
- USB audio dongle with mic input for CarPlay/Android Auto. $5.
- Analog microphone. $3.
- USB hub. $8.
- USB power cable.
Shipping USPS Large Box: $17.10.
What you need to get are:
- 2A USB 12V cigarette power brick.
- the ground loop noise filter for the audio or I can send mine for $10. It's on Amazon.
- air mouse with lighted keyboard since you don't use touch screen.

It's good for people don't have AMI.
