Replacing ABS Control Module (+ ignition coil/spark plugs)
Hi! Would appreciate any advice that anyone can give! Would really appreciate it
I would like to replace my ABS control module for my 2004 Audi A8L V6 3.0L Car, (made for Singaporean drive so driver seat is on the right side). Mileage is around 140 000KM (~90 000miles). So anyway, the car dealer is being a bitch about revealing the corresponding part number (ABS control module + ignition coil + spark plug) as apparently they are not obligated to do so and the main mechanic is quoting a 4k repair bill (to replace BOTH ABS module + pump together, but research shows that replacing ABS module would 99% solve the issue with my car).
Anyhow, a mechanic friend apparently has connections within the dealership and has revealed to me the part number
1. Is there anyway I can double check this part numbers with a 3rd party mechanic (say plug in VAG-COM and run a scan) WITHOUT physically dismantling the car to see what the number is because I would incur unnecessary labour costs.
2. MUST I replace the ABS module with the EXACT SAME corresponding part number in order to fix my car's ABS Control Module issue? (i.e. this specific car model which can work with this ABS Control Unit Part number can also work with other part numbers as well? or is it a one-to-one strict compatibility?)
3. Same issue with 1) (obtain part number for spark plug + ignition coil) and 2), except this is to replace the spark plug + ignition coil, as my dealer/mechanic has not revealed the spark plug / ignition coil part number.
4. I suspect some of my ignition coils are misfiring during hard acceleration (high RPM values) as the car shudders / vibrates unusually. What is a recommended way to find out which spark plugs/ignition coils are misfiring during high RPM so I do not need to replace them all?
Thanks for reading this lengthy post and I appreciate your time and valuable feedback .

You should be able to hook up with vag-com and read your current part number of the ABS unit. I have an extra one for sale if you want an alternative to buying new.
The coil packs are known for failing and there may even be a TSB (technical service bulletin) for them
A less expensive option may be just trying the spark plugs first, but on the flip side if your trying to do some preventive maintenance you can just replace the ones that have the mis-fires that you can check with vag-com logging.

You may want to contact BBA-reman. They rebuild abs units pretty reasonably, and typically have a 1-2 day turn around time. They rebuilt the abs on my '99 A8, and it worked great. Check out www.bba-reman.com
