Rivets for Doors
Hello all.
This is my first post. I have an 07 S8 that has the window regulator issue with the window tint. I am planning on taking the door apart to take a look but wanted to know what rivets have you guys used for the doors. Will a standard rivet gun from home depot work or do I need to get something special?
Thanks.

Don't replace JUST the window winder; instead, get the large aluminum door piece with the winder attached. You don't want to do the rivets yourself. It's much easier to just get the whole aluminum piece with the winder attached. As Atomic just mentioned I went thru the exact same thing (you can see all the responses in that link he posted). There is a link to one for like $95 on eBay, and you can also find it locally. I got a brand new window regulator motor, soft-close motor, soft-close latch (I don't need the soft close motor or latch as my car doesn't have the wiring for it, so expect to see that for sale here in the classifieds soon hah!), the aluminum piece and a window winder in great shape for $110 from the local junk yard. I found it by going to car-part.com and entering the info and my area, and went down and picked it up. (Also grabbed a rear lid-mounted tail light as mine was busted partially and a new MMI screen/flip up carriage to boot).
