My fuel level sensor seems to be flakey. After a fill, sometimes it reads near full, sometimes only 3/4. It seems to work fairly accurately once you get near 1/2 tank. Regardless something is certainly wrong.

Vagcom doesn't show any errors, so not sure where I'd look. Should I just replace the fuel sensor and be done with it?

Default See what others say, but conclusions are reasonable.

Mine is linear and accurate and always has been as a baseline for what you should expect. Your descriptions sounds like the sensor. Most all quattro's have had a saddle tank straddling the rear part of the drive tube that then needs fuel to be transferred across the "top" of the saddle. That set up can result in fuel pumping issues as level drops if something goes wrong. But your issues are near top of tank that I would tend to chalk up to simple sensor as you are concluding.

See if anyone has dealt with it specifically first though.

Is it taking the normal amount of fuel when you fill up?
If its short filling it could be an issue with the breather not letting air out of the tank.

Problem is that there are four sensors. Check the attachment, pages 39, 40. Could be just one of those tube sensors.
