S8 O2 sensor help please
My 2007 S8 (101k) has been throwing a cell lately, I cleared it at first hoping for the best but its back. VCDS scan shows:
000048 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Heating Circuit
P0030 - 004 - Malfunction / Open Circuit - Intermittent - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 10100100
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 5
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 163965 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2018.03.15
Time: 13:35:45
I searched and cannot find anything specific to the S8, There were some A8 comments around cleaning the connections that seems to address the issue.
Anyone had this on an S8 and fixed it, please god don't say its an engine out job

I had the W12, but to me the "Intermittent"right in the code says indeed look hard at the connectors. Find the B1S1 one--front left of the motor/exhaust as you look at it under the hood--and open the connector. Clean it and apply some Deoxit or something similar. Just get it into the terminals, like with a tooth pick or jeweler's little screwdriver. If that solves it, then done, at least for a while.
If that fails, I would try the W12 TSB fix. You replace the car side connector--which is why the O2 changes may not even help. BTDT. At the same time you splice in new jumper wires that form the pins of the connector. Not hard to do; find my prior threads/posts on it from the W12. Dealers sell the connectors(s) and the pre crimped terminal jumper wires. The issue per the TSB for at least W12's is the solder or join right at the connector crimp was sub par.

Here's what I have on your problem. Not so sure about waiting weeks to address this - you do know a bad O2 sensor can lead to a ruined CAT and $$$$$$.

Thanks Scott, I won’t be driving it much. It is a priority to fix it. I very much appreciate the very detailed data that you sent. My understanding is that B1S1 refers to #5 on the document above.
As soon as I get time I will test it

Came back from vacation today and drove the car, CEL on as expected at first. Stopped and drove the 2nd time and the CEL is off, another trip a little later and the CEL is still off. I haven't touched the car for a week whist away. I'll try and run another scan this weekend.
