Default S8 REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK

My 2008 S8 has a rear main seal leak. It's not a major leak, but a leak all the same. Audi wants $6,000.00 to remove the engine and replace the seal.
Is this a somewhat common issue? Is it worth repairing? Like I said it's more of a seeping.

i just realized I started a thread on his subject back in 2014. I had the car in for service last month and they mentioned it again.

11 year old car + $6K to do new. Hmmm. Common sense says use the $10 type seal conditioner/sealer--and it's a 5 years hence, yet easier call than the last time we worked thru it in the prior thread. By 10 years+ old, BTDT on various older ones.

is there oil on your garage floor when you park it at night? If not I would not worry about it one bit. It's not like you have a dry clutch inside of there. $6,000 to repair it? That's just ridiculous.

I'm in the same situation with my 09. just a drop or 2 some nights and none others. not enough to be down before changing the oil even. just over 152k miles on it and pulling the motor seems silly.
