Default Seat cover replacement

I am trying to find a good source for a replacement seat cover for my driver's seat! There is a tear in the bolster on the upright portion of the seat and I would really like to take care of it. The thing is, I can't find a good source of replacement covers. I'm also not sure how difficult this is to replace!

Audi sells exact OE match, albeit for $$$. Upholstery shop to install. Given airbag in side bolster let alone low volume of car, unlikely to find anything else. (Only) other choice is junkyard for the driver's seat, but they usually won't break up a seat set unless some were affected by whatever caused the car to be junked...plus, driver's seat is the most likely to be screwed up anyway. With D3's now aging, junkyards may be more eager to move parts as one offs though. You can try a search on something like car-part.com. Also EBay. Bought a driver's seat to replace mine that had a broken lumbar support for my then 10 or 12 year old 2000 A6.

My Indy mechanic accidentally put a nice slit in the leather on the base of the driver's seat. I noticed it actually on the way to getting my car detailed. I had the detail shop fix the tear by putting in a whole new piece of leather, perforation holes and all (I have ventilated seats) to the tune of $450. Really can't tell a difference, however the OEM leather that was on there seems nicer, it has a sheen to it as where the replacement is slightly more dull. No one would ever notice though. Sent the bill to my mechanic to be paid. Any sound detail shop should know an upholsterer.

I bought an entire upper seat assembly on eBay for about $80. Mine is torn as well. I just have to figure out if it has the massage components once I finally get around to swapping them out. If you're looking for how to remove the leather, I posted awhile back asking how and someone posted the PDFs. I can probably re-upload if you need.

Oh, nice! I would appreciate that, see if it's too difficult or not.

Okay, thanks! This is on the side bolster near the door, they might be able to replace that section. It's not a huge tear but it is annoying on an otherwise excellent interior. It came from long term wear.

I was thinking, are the leather of the passenger and driver's seats interchangeable? If so, finding a nice used section from a passenger seat may be a lot easier.
