SOFT DOOR CLOSE PROBLEM FULLY EXPLAINED AND REPAIRED LOTS OF PICS
I know this has been in many threads, but I thought this would help others know why the soft door close latch fails. The problem you will experience with this failure will be no soft door close with no noise, but you will get a sporadic motor turn and snap noise when closed or opened from time to time, but not everytime. If you are getting a motor noise every single time you try a soft close you probably have a snapped cable. If so still this is the part you need to replace. Unfortunately you have to take the entire door apart to get this latch kit out. This part is not intended to be repaired, but I'm not buying a $200 latch for a 2 dollar micro switch so I repaired mine since the cables are fine.
There are two micro switches in the door latch assy. The lower of the two fails, because the actuator arm breaks off of the micro switch. Here are some good pics so you can see the switch, location and the new one I installed.
NOTE: THE OLD SWITCH JUST IS A BASIC TWO WIRE RED and BLUE. THE ONE I PUT IN HAS THREE WIRES, BUT ONE OF THEM IS NOT USED.
I will be putting it back in this week and I will take pics of the reinstall so everyone can see what is involved in putting this back together.
