Yogi 4.2

....it's a 2004, and I've read through some of the archives about the problems some folks have had with the car occasionally just not starting. It doesn't seem like a problem with the starter since it never sounds like the starter engages, and the battery level seems fine by both MMI and manual tests.

I'm guessing I have the same glitch in the software that others have had, so what I'm really wondering is whether or not a software/MMI update seems to have been the long term solution for the others out there with this problem. Did anyone ever get confirmation that there is a TSB on this issue?

My car is at the dealership now (has been since Tuesday) and I'm getting a little worried that the folks checking it out might not really know what to look for (despite my having printed out and brought in the thread from this forum on this issue). Thanks in advance for any comments!

This happened to my '04 as well. Turning the key to off and then back to start would get it to start right up. It took Audi three tries and getting their regional technician involved but it seems to be fixed now. I'm not sure of the exact fix, but they did tell me they had to reflash the computer to fix it. Apparently the computer thought the car was already running so that's why it wouldn't start.

I'll go pull my receipt and see what it says specifically and post it up for you.

Here's what my receipt shows they did to fix it. Unfortunately it doesn't give the specific TSB number they're referencing on here.

99 Replaced switch and relay per tech line.
Applied TSB for ignition ECU update per tech
line
1 077-129-629 Hose
