Trunk Hinge Maintenance / Hood Cable Preservation
One word: HHS-2000.
Wurth makes it and it's ideal for the purpose. plastic safe and comes out like water, then foams a bit and quickly dries somewhat sticky. Hard to find but wurth it (hee hee).
I wash my trunk pivots (hinges) and leave the sun to dry them after air-blowing out as much as possible. WD-40 might help, if you're in a hurry or it's not sunny. Then a little squirt of the magic lube and you're good for a year. But don't take my word for it: from a prescient thread about hood cables from MP4.2+6.0.
Been discussing it here but I thought I'd start a new topic.
HHS-5000 has PTFE but I think that's overkill for this application, unless the cost is the same. BTW the HHS-2000 is expensive ($20/can is about as cheap as you'll find it), but lasts a long time. BTW there are two size cans so be certain you're not being charged $20 for the toolbox-sized one (150mL vs 500mL). The cans look the same in photos (proportions are nearly identical).

Having read it mentioned in the other thread, I contacted Wurth UK. I asked which of their sprays they recommend for the plastic intake actuators in our engines. They said the HHS-2000 is the right one for that purpose too.
I have to admit, I'm tempted to buy the HHS-5000 for the engine and then use the HHS-2000 for the rest. I've asked them about the differences between the two but they've not got back to me yet.
As Atomic has already said, I know one (perhaps the only) difference is that the 5000 has PTFE.
