TV Tuner update
I found more info about the OEM TV Tuner over the weekend and I believe this whole thing is more simple than I originally thought.
If the fibre optic cabling/connector for the TV Tuner is already in the trunk in the US model D3 (Badmyan, can you verify this?), then we should be able to purchase an OEM TV Tuner and install it in the trunk in its designated spot. I do not know if there are finished (prepped) fibre connectors in that spot that are TV Tuner ready. If they are there but unfinished, it is not trivial to prepare connectors for fibre connections, you need special tools and training. If the cabling is intact and ready to go, then this should be a fairly easy install. The 1216 wiring kit needs to be installed before the TV Tuner is connected according to the instructions for the Audiotechnik Dietz ® Vertriebs GmbH 1216 wiring harness. The 1216 wiring kit will allow for the an auxilliary A/V source (DVD player, etc.) According to Dietz, the TV option should be automatically recognized by the MMI and and you will be able to specify in MMI whether your aux source is PAL or NTSC.
Since my D3 is not here yet, I can't test this myself. Anyone here willing to buy an OEM TV Tuner and test it out?

1216 wiring kit

I did not see any fiber (or other cables) in the module's home, however
There are two fiber connections leading to the module spot for the digital receiver (statlight radio). I belive one is audio and the other vid.
Take the left cover off in the truck (two big plastic locking screws). It's opposit the battery compartment. You will see them wrapped by a little foam and tied down in the back corner.

Missing MOST connectivity for the TV Tuner?
If the fiber cables are missing for the TV Tuner, you might be able to use the ones for the sat radio (assuming you had no intent to install sat radio) but the connectors may not be the same. I do not know if Audi is using the same connectors for all of the fiber connectivity to the MOST ring. If they are, then this may still be possible. If not, then getting an aux A/V source connected to MMI may not be worth the trouble.

Re: what if you already have sat radio (05 A8) and also want aux audio input? anybody done this yet?
I am in the same situation. Just bought an 05 A8L with sat radio and want to figure out the TV deal. Read several German sites with little luck. Of course, my German needs work.
