Default With two new struts the trunk still won't open

Sachs/Stabilus SG 301045 and 301046 from Rockauto. Exact same result as the 9 year old original struts. Trunk will not open without a little bit of help. It works fine when it's cold but does not open on its own when it's above 50 or so. Now what??

Most of the time it's the weak motor.

Who told you struts would work? I mean, it helps some times, but it's still usually the motor.

It's in one of the threads here. I have the 2010 model with the metal case motor and that's the one to have. I may have to try the sandpaper trick on the motor clutch.

Given your symptom, I'd try the pop-up bumpers next:

For lowest cost tries, oil all (of the many...) hinge points. Look at hinges physically to be sure they are not bent. BTDT.

After that, back to the trunk motor even if newest case.

Or...poor man's trick after doing at least the oil and hinge check: take tow hook out of tool case in trunk lid and stash in spare tire well. Heaviest thing in there.

I'll check the hinges and I have ordered the pop-op bumpers. Will report back!

I tried the pop-ups, lube, sandpaper trick, hinge alignment, tool kit jettison, and a prayer. My metal case motor still needs help to lift the lid...

Remove weight...i removed the entire tool kit and stored it near the spare tire. This seems to help my situation.
